Merida watched the arrow whizz by, hitting the tree bark with a ‘twap’ , “Jinx craven och mah bob! Ye did it!” She beamed. “And on yer first shot too!” She said putting a hand on her hip.
He looked back at her, a big smug grin on his face. He leaned on one foot and put a hand on his side. ” Well, all because I have such a great teacher.” He credited with a hand, giving a charming smile. ” Alright, again? ” He said with a wink.
Merida smiled when she was given the compliment, but cleared her throat and tried to regain her composure, “Aye, yes. See if ya can hit the top branch up there.” She said pointing.
He stared up at it, then looked back at her. ” You think I could get it?” He immediately gets into position, and pulls back on the string and breathes slowly. A deep inhale, he relaxes his muscles and then releases.
“Let’s find out,” She smiled. “Now remember what I told ya and keep yer eyes on the target…” Merida said, adjusting the bow for him.
“Heh-yes. Just breathe right? And relax?” He does that and releases the bow.
“Aye…” Merida replied watching the arrow shoot forward. I hope he makes it… she thought, crossing her fingers.
HE nearly makes the shot. It gets the branch, slightly veered off, but otherwise perfect angle.
“Och, ye almost got it.” She smiled. “Yer doin’ better than mah brothers.” She said giving him a pat on the back.
